It is official. We made it to Richmond (well, Midlothian) last Sunday after a long and much needed family packed road trip. Quick shout out to E's nephew Brennan who won the Rocky Hill Little League championship! After the game he said "I didn't play good... I played GREAT!" (Confidence is key people!)
On the trip we logged many miles on the vehicles, replaced a compressor in the Tahoe and spent boo-coodles on gas! Our sweet dog Dooley is the MVP of the trip enduring hours in the car and being a relatively good house guest along the way (leaving only moderate amounts of Dooley hair in his wake). He was quite confused the last few days in the MN house... He made sure not to leave our side for fear we would leave him behind!

Leaving Minnesota was tough on both of us. Not only tough for the amount of scrubbing, cleaning and moving activities but tough to leave the friends we have made. We had some great evenings out our last week in town. Dinner with friends, including the fabulous woman who helped connect me to the U, Michelle and her husband John. She was a warm and welcoming person with Tennessee ties and I have to commend John for enduring all of our Tennessee chatter every time we got together (you know you love it John)! We also had a nice happy hour with my former colleagues at Sally's, a University of Minnesota institution on Washington Avenue. Joslyn, a colleague I have worked very closely with and is a great friend put it all together. It was a good time to visit and say goodbye while also watching my colleagues needle E about taking me away from the foundation. We also had a great dinner with E's colleague and mentor, Jim. We also had a really great evening with E's friend from work Will and his wife Pam, a couple who first and foremost have the cutest dang kids you've ever seen but are also a pair that we have great admiration and respect for, we will miss seeing them! I can't' forget the annual Minnesota Division of FHWA's bowling tournament with his colleagues... which our team WON! That's right we won, maybe helped slightly by our bowling handicaps but still the "Young Guns" team went out with "W." Finally, E and I had a great "last supper" with a dear work friend Courtney and her husband Andrew. The dinner was aptly named because it was the night before the predicted rapture... like I need an excuse for food! It was a great meal and even better company.
Needless to say, we will miss all of these people dearly and hope they all don't mind the blog shout-outs but are people we want to know how much we appreciate and look forward to keeping in touch with!
