It is official! After our roller coaster ride of house hunting and negotiating the Moores are homeowners! We closed today and can't wait to get started this week cleaning up and moving in. Elliott is taking off Monday-Wednesday and the movers come on Wednesday! I also get to have my mom in town this weekend to help out while Elliott takes on Bristol Motor Speedway.
On the agenda for pre move in:
- Cleaning up the house while it is a little easier, no furniture and boxes in the way yet! (actually our fantastic realtor is having the house cleaned for us... partly because the previous owner left it filthy and because she's awesome and has taken great care of us- if you ever need a realtor in Richmond, holler at me- I've got your gal).
- Sprucing the kitchen up a bit, painting, getting the tile grout cleaned up by the sink, removing the top cabinet doors, painting the cabinets, lining the cabinets (my least favorite activity but one that is a must...)
- Painting the master bedroom
Maybe it is the navy brat in me but I get so excited about movers coming to bring your stuff! There is something settling about knowing that you have your belongings at your new home and that you are going to be there for a while. Plus, unpacking can sometimes be like Christmas... "ooooh I forgot we had this!" and "I know exactly where to put that!" Either way we have an exciting few days/weeks/months ahead and are so thrilled and blessed to be new homeowners in Richmond, VA!
On my job front there have been a few interviews and not a lot of other movement... after having met with over 25 professionals in town I am feeling optimistic that something will happen soon but know that being patient for the right thing will be worth the wait. Many thanks to all of our friends and family providing encouragement and prayers throughout the process and to Elliott for dealing with my constant funk about being unemployed. It is not easy but we'll get there!
Love to all.
